National Umpires Association is directed by Jim Stros, originally from Detroit, Michigan. Jim is a 1990 graduate of Michigan State University. At Michigan State, Jim was a relief pitcher from 1987-1990. He currently holds three single season Big Ten appearance records as one of the all-time leaders in career appearances at Michigan State. After graduation, Jim had the opportunity to pursue baseball professionally for three seasons in the spring of 91-93, then found another love for the game after becoming an umpire 20 years ago.

Mitch Schwark National Camp Director - NUA Board of Directors. Originally from Three Oaks, Michigan, Mitch brings over 30 years of umpiring experience to NUA. In 1990, he graduated from the Harry Wendelstedt Professional Umpiring School. Following graduation, he began umpiring professionally. In 1991, he worked a Championship Series in the Gulf Coast League (Rookie League), and then in 1992, umpiring in the South Atlantic League (Class A), also working the Championship Series.
In 1993, while working in the Carolina League (Class A) he was voted Best Umpire Prospect by the Carolina League Managers which was published in Baseball America, and was selected to work the Carolina League All Star Game. In 1994, 1995, and 1996, he was assigned to the Eastern League (Class AA), working the Championship Series there along with working three Championship Series in the Venezuelan Winter League. He also was an instructor for Major League Baseball International Umpire Camps along side John McSherry. In 1997, Mitch was assigned to the American Association (Class AAA). During this time, he worked 10 Major League Spring Training games.
Recently, Mitch was selected to work 1st base at the 2011 All-American Classic game played at Petco Park in San Diego, California.
Jim Stros, Director of NUA states that Mitch brings more experience and knowledge to NUA than any umpire he has ever worked with. His leadership skills along with his clear understanding of game management skills and professionalism on and off the field has earned him the respect of his peers and coaches both nationally and locally. Mitch is one of the top umpires in the country.
Mitch's responsibilities include training at all levels, on-site evaluations as well as NUA's Fall and Spring Camp Director. Mitch also currently works as a fill-in umpire for the Triple-A International League.
Mitch and his wife, Adriana of 15 years have two children Marianna (8) and Sammy (6). The Schwark family currently lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Jim Komestakes National Camp Director - NUA Board of Directors. Jim brings several years of experience at all levels to NUA, both on and off the field. On the field, Jim has been selected to umpire a number of high school all star games, and state playoff rounds over the years. Jim's duties as the Director of Training will include classroom and field training and evaluations. He is also one of NUA's tournament on-site directors for all national tournaments.

Mike Quirk NUA Board of Directors. Mike is responsible for recruiting umpires nationally for NUA. He is a New Jersey native. He completed his undergraduate degree in 1973 at Montclair State University and in 1981 completed his graduate degree at George Mason University. In 1982, Mike was appointed Special Agent, Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI), where he had an exemplary 33 year career with the Bureau.
Mike has over 35 years of umpiring experience, umpiring all levels of amateur baseball in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Florida and Georgia. He has been a member of the National Association of Sports Officials since 1986. From 1987 - 1992 Mike certified over 1000 baseball coaches for the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. Some of his other accomplishments include: 1997 to Present - Pennsylvania Interscholatic Athletic Association (PIAA) High School Baseball Umpire; 1997 to 2007 - MABL/MSBL Umpire, Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania; 2004 & 2005 - Worked the MSBL World Series, Phoenix, Arizona; 2008 to Present - Umpire at Disney World's ESPN Wide World of Sports High School Spring Training. (High Schools from USA and Canada play official and non - official baseball games.) Most recently in 2009, Mike worked the 14U WWBA Perfect Game National Championship Game in Marietta, Georgia.
Some of his other Awards include being selected as the 2001 MSBL Umpire of the Year, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. In 2009 Mike was voted as the NUA Most Outstanding Umpire and also was honored with the 2009 NUA Fireman's Award.

John Turner NUA Board of Directors. John, who started umpiring
when he was 15 years old, brings 30 years of experience including 5 years with the NCAA to the
National Umpires Association. Over the years, John has worked several National Championship
games and World Series games which was highlighted by being selected to umpire the 2010 Georgia
High School State Championship Series. Since 1998, John has been selected every year to work a
GHSA State playoff series. He has umpired several Triple Crown Championships, USSSA Championships,
CABA World Series including 8 WWBA Perfect Game USA National Championship games.
John's duties will include classroom training, field training, and evaluations at all levels.
He is also one of NUA's top instructors at the NUA National Spring and Fall Camps. Several top
awards have highlighted John's career. He was recently selected the 2011 National Umpires Most
Outstanding Top Umpire.
Jim Stros, National Director of NUA, paid John the highest compliment by stating that in his
20+ years of umpiring, he has never seen an umpire who has worked any harder at his craft and climb
to the highest ranks within any association he has ever been involved with.
John's professionalism, game management, and communication skills have earned him the
respect of his peers and coaches alike.
